Hey y’all! Are you ready to embark on a family adventure in the vibrant city of Houston, Texas? As a Black Millennial mom who loves to explore and create unforgettable memories with my little ones, I’ve curated the ultimate list of must-visit spots and activities that will keep your family entertained and engaged. From outdoor adventures to educational experiences, Houston has something for everyone. So, pack your sunscreen and get ready for a journey filled with fun and discovery!

As a long term Houston transplant with an active 7 year old we have explored all of these attractions and we both enjoyed our visits to each place.

Elle’s Mommy Tips:

  • If you come during the week the Houston Museum District offers free/discounted outings for different museums, visit their website at to confirm what days are available here: https://www.visithoustontexas.com/things-to-do/arts-and-culture/museums/free-museums/
  • Plan your days based on which area of town you will be in for that day. Houston is a huge city and traffic is never ending. Trust me you do not want to be stuck in rush hour traffic with small children.
  • Many of our Houston museums and the zoo are in the same area, if you are brave enough it is easy to visit two or more attractions in a day.
  • Sign up for the Rockets email list! I often get tickets from $1-$10 and we go just to get out of the house. Don’t forget to visit the Kid’s Club in the Toyota Center.
